Premier League title now officially belongs to Manchester City. Pep Guardiola side did not expect to lift the title this week because nobody expected West Brom to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford. It happened and the rest is history. The job is still not done especially when it comes to the battle to avoid the drop. The gap between the fourth and fifth has dropped to 7 points. This means there is still a lot to play for in the remaining four matches. Today, we want to look at best performers in the League last weekend.
5. SMF- Salah, Mane, and Firmino
Liverpool front three was on fire once again last weekend against Bournemouth. Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 7th minute to trigger the cheers at Anfield. Mohamed Salah added his 30th in the Premier League and 40th in all competitions in the 69th minute. Roberto Firmino made no mistake when he got his chance in the 90th minute to make sure all three attackers when home happy.
4. Jonjo Shelvey- Newcastle United
Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey did not score any goal last weekend but his performance helped his team beat Arsenal last weekend. The host’s opening goal was scored by Ayoze Perez in the 29th minute after a long pass from Shelvey. He played a key role in the second goal netted by Matt Ritchie. He is one of the most improved players in the Premier League this season. He might just gatecrash the plane to Russia this summer.
3. Jay Rodriguez- West Brom
West Brom silenced 75, 000 capacity crowd at Old Trafford on Sunday with a well deserved 1-0 victory against Manchester United. The fans and pundits did not give the bottom club any chance before the match because they have won only one match since August.
However, caretaker boss Darren Moore had other ideas. He prepared his team to go and enjoy themselves against the mighty Red Devils and they did just that. In the end, Jay Rodriguez goal was the difference. The win means there is still a slim hope of survival but they must win the remaining four games.
