La Liga 2018/19 season kicked off last weekend. Barcelona and Real Madrid opened their campaign with victories against Alaves and Getafe respectively. The League football association has also announced some selected matches this season will be played in the US. This is a strategy to improve the popularity of the division in the vast North America country. Today, we want to look at four greats with most direct free-kicks in the last 30 years in La Liga.

4. Ronaldinho-15 Free-kick Goals

Barcelona legend Ronaldinho will forever remain in the hearts of many football fans all over the world. The Brazilian used to caress the ball in a manner not seen before in the game. In five years at the club, he netted 94 goals in 207 appearances. He also netted 15 goals from direct free-kicks. He helped the Catalan giants lift 2 La Liga titles, 1 UEFA Champions League crown and 2 Spanish Super Cups.

3. Roberto Carlos- 16 Free-kick Goals

Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos was in a League of his own when it comes to free-kicks. However, this changed when Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club in 2009. The famous left back style of taking free-kicks will remain untouched for generations. He netted 16 goals from direct free-kicks in La Liga alone. In total, the Brazilian scored 67 goals in 512 appearances. He helped the Los Blancos lift 4 La Liga titles, 3 UEFA Champions League crowns, 3 Spanish Super Cups and 1 UEFA Super Cup. He was a key member of the Samba Boys team that won World Cup 2002.
