Joe Hart did not have a good season with West Ham. In fact, David Moyes tried to rescue his World Cup hopes but the errors continued to occur. The long-serving shot-stopper will now be forced to watch the game from home. Pep Guardiola has either exposed his underbelly or destroyed his career.

The story is different for Chris Smalling because Jose Mourinho considered him the best centre-back at Manchester United in 2017/18 season. However, Gareth Southgate did not see the 46 matches Smalling played last season. He decided to select his teammate Phil Jones who only played 25 matches last season.
5. Radja Nainggolan- Belgium
Belgium final squad was also released on Monday. The biggest shock so far is the fact that AS Roma central midfielder Radja Nainggolan was not even included in the preliminary squad by manager Roberto Martinez. It is difficult to understand why a coach will decide to exclude such a top player. However, time will tell whether the tactician was right to ignore the midfielder.

The competition for places in Spain national team is serious. However, the omission of Chelsea and Arsenal fullbacks Marcos Alonso and Hector Bellerin shocked fans and pundits. The two had great seasons with their club despite not finishing in top four places.
Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata had above average seasons but the same can be said about Diego Costa who only played few matches for Atletico Madrid from January. For instance, Morata scored 15 goals in 48 appearances for the Blues in his debut season. Costa only netted 7 times in 23 matches for Atletico.
