Premier League Odds: Who will clinch a top six berth in 2022/23

It seems that Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Manchester United have pretty much nailed themselves into the top four positions in the Premier League this season but who will be joining them in European competition for 2023/24?

The current top four in the Premier League table are all odds-on to claim a Champions League place for next season courtesy of their final league placing and while there’s much of the campaign left to play, the inconsistent form of their main challengers makes it somewhat unlikely that their lofty positions will be challenged any time soon.

With the top four positions seeming quite secure – at least for the time being – the big question is, who will be joining the main players in European competition next term?

With regard to the Champions League, Liverpool are favourites outside the current top four to make it into Europe’s premier club competition. Nevertheless their poor domestic form – with just 8 wins from 19 league games as well as exits from both domestic cup competitions – makes it unlikely that they will feature in this competition.

The bookmakers go 11/5 that Liverpool do indeed finish in the top four, however as far as we’re concerned, their most likely route into Europe next term is with a top six finish, this outcome priced at a rather slim 2/7. Most betting operators go 5/2 that Jurgen Klopp’s men fail to make it into Europe at all next season, such an outcome likely to cause unrest amongst fans unaccustomed to such meagre reward.

Thus far, Fulham have been one of the big surprises this season, the Cottagers sitting in 7th position in the Premier League table after 21 rounds of fixtures. The West London outfit have played at least one more game than most of the sides around them in the league table however and they are out at 25/1 to claim a top six berth at the end of the campaign.

Similarly, Brentford have been doing spectacularly well this season – by their own standards – and they sit just a single point and one position below Fulham with a game-in-hand. The Bees are as low as 16/1 for a top six finish this term and on recent form, they seem to be in a decent position to get some reward for their efforts.

Tottenham Hotspur sit just three points outside the top four – having played one game more – and they are odds-on at 1/2 for a top six finish and 3/1 for a finish in the top four, while London rivals Chelsea are priced at Evens and 7/1 in these respective markets.

Another notable contender this season is Brighton & Hove Albion who currently sit in the giddy heights of 6th in the league table. The Seagulls have been enjoying a decent campaign thus far and they are a general 15/8 to crown it with the reward of European football via a top six finish.
