FIFA World Cup 2018 is getting hotter every day. The hosts welcomed us with a 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia but nothing else is going according to expectations. Argentina has drawn against Iceland, Brazil could only manage a 1-1 result against Switzerland and Germany lost to Mexico. It is proving to be the crazy showdown we were expecting. Today, as we wait for England, Belgium, and Senegal to take to the pitch in the final two groups, let’s see who has stolen our attention so far.
5. Aleksandar Kolarov – Serbia
Two words: Aleksandar. Kolarov. 😳

Serbia defeated Costa Rica 1-0 thanks to a beautiful free-kick goal scored by their captain Aleksandar Kolarov. It was a perfect day for the Eastern European nation because they know Brazil and Switzerland will not be a walk in the park. It also worked for them because the other two drew 1-1. The strike is up there with the best in the tournament so far.
4. Hirving Lozano- Mexico
GERMANY STUNNED 😲
Here's the goal from Hirving Lozano that gave #MEX the win over the defending champions.

World Cup defending Champions Germany was stunned by Mexico in their opening game on Sunday. The Central Americans threatened the Europeans since the first minute but they failed to take advantage. However, the story changed in the 35th minute when Javier Hernandez laid a perfect pass for Hirving Lozano to finish. The second half was all German attack but they could not find a way. They have now joined France (2002), Italy (2010) and Spain (2014) in the list of defending champions losing their opening matches in the following tournament.
3. Cheryshev and Golovin- Russia

Russia opened 2018 World Cup with a commanding 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia on Thursday, June 14th at the Iconic Luzhniki Stadium. It was a dream start for the host nation especially after a poor run of results in all their friendly matches before the tournament. Dennis Cheryshev scored twice but Man of the Match crown went to Aleksandr Golovin who assisted two goals and scored the fifth one.
