1. Steve Nash – Vancouver Whitecaps FC. & Real Mallorca
The Canadian former NBA superstar owns a Major League Soccer team back home, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Steve Nash co-owns the franchise with a team of investors. In 2012, the team became the first Canadian team to get into the MLS. In 2008 Nash attempted to buy English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but it failed.
Nash and Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver joined an ownership group to buy a controlling share of Spanish professional soccer club Real Mallorca for $21 million, in 2016. Mallorca won the 2002-03 Copa del Rey title. And had played for 16 consecutive seasons in Spain’s top league before its relegation to the second division in 2013.
