Manchester United on course for top-four finish in 2022/23

We’re now fast approaching the business end of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign and Manchester United remain on course to finish in the top four and claim a Champions league berth for next term.

Manchester United finished the 2021/22 campaign in sixth position and there’s every reason to believe that they will improve upon this at the end of the current season. Erik ten Hag has steered his side into the final of the Carabao Cup on the back of a 5-0 aggregate win over Nottingham Forest and they are through to the last 32 of the Europa League after finishing second (on goal difference) to Real Sociedad in their group. Their continued involvement in the FA Cup was assured thanks to a fourth-round 3-1 win against Reading last weekend, while in the Premier League they currently sit in fourth position.

The Red Devils have won more league games (12) than any other side in the Premier League outside the top two, a run which included a 2-1 win over Manchester City in last month’s derby and the bookmakers have them chalked in at 2/9 odds-on to keep their top four position at the end of the season.

Indeed, Ten Hag’s men are third favourites (after Arsenal and Barcelona) to win the 2022/23 Europa League trophy at odds as low as 6/1 and this would provide them with an alternative route into next season’s Champions League.

All-in-all, this promises to be an excellent season for the Red Devils on all fronts and there’s every reason to believe they will be dining at the top table of the European game next term.
