It’s the unseen epidemic: the game’s great, rich and famous ending up penniless. It all starts with spending big. For some, the problems begin with the adrenaline rush of signing their first professional contract; others it is drugs, booze, luxury and women addictions; others bad investments, etc. Down are some of the biggest spenders in modern football.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is rich, and he knows it. To be fair to the Portuguese star, he’s not in any danger of going bankrupt any time soon as far as we know. He reportedly makes around $40 million in salary and endorsements per year.

When you’re that rich, financial accountability isn’t likely to be very high on your priorities. Ronaldo’s ridiculous spending on cars, homes, as well as £8,000 a month on clothes is surely a bit irresponsible.
Without getting too caught up in Ronaldo’s personal life, it’s safe to say that even with his enormous amount of wealth, he’s one of the biggest spenders on earth.
4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

With his ego, it’s no surprise the demi-god makes it to the list. Zlatan Ibrahimovic bought a massive 4 story church in Stockholm. At a price $1,700,000, Ibrahimovic then spent an undisclosed amount of money on builders to turn the building into an apartment complex.
The Swedish striker has a luxurious car collection, as well as an $870,000 Hailey Davidson Motorbike. Ibrahimovic apparently also wants his own HGTV show here in America.
3. Neymar Jr.

The highest paid footballer on earth and the youngest on the list must be spending like crazy. There is a Porsche Panamera Turbo worth around $400,000 to $550,000, his $2 million dollar mansion and $950,000 apartment home in Brazil, plus his rental property in Paris.

Neymar also purchased an $8 million yacht that costs $230,000 per year to maintain. He also spent $1 million dollars on a villa for his former partner and spends $30,000 a month on child support for his young son.
There are also the little things that we don’t know how much he’s spent on, like his massive collectable toy car collection, his las vegas parties, or his diamond earrings.
