Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that there is no upset at Old Trafford after his side failed to sign a centre-back on transfer deadline.
It was frequently reported that United were in contact with Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Yerry Mina.

FRUSTRATION 😠 José Mourinho did not get most of the intended targets he wanted during this window. With only Brazilian, Fred, as the only signing of notice. But it was in the defensive area where José Mourinho ultimately felt annoyed. Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelöf are the only real CB at Mourinho disposal. And although Manchester Utd had a good defensive line last season, the current CB aren't the players they were rumoured to get. Add to the fact that The Red Devils were rumoured to be getting the likes of Jérôme Boateng and Yerry Mina, makes it look worse. Rivals Liverpool have had brilliant window, with the top 3 signings of the Premier League in my opinion, all going to Anfield. But I don't think Manchester Utd should panic. José Mourinho makes sure they don't concede a lot of goals and they have brilliant players in attack, with some of them having brilliant World Cup's. I think United fans just want to see a bit more going forward and not scrap a 1-0 or a 2-1 and really go for it. However, none of them agreed to join the Old Trafford side while Yerry Mina has instead opted to join Everton on deadline day.
Mourinho made it clear during the pre-season that he is unhappy with the club’s lack of transfer activity this summer.
But the former Chelsea boss has claimed that his players are consolidated before starting the 2018-19 season.
Asked if he is ready to compete without new signings, Mourinho said: “I have my players, I like my players, I like to work with my players.”
“One lie repeated 1,000 times is still a lie, but the perception of the people is that it’s true but it’s still a lie.”
“So, when you repeat 1,000 times that my relationship with my players is not good, it’s a lie that repeated 1,000 times is still a lie.”
“But again, the perception of the people that read can be different, but I like my players and my group. I enjoy the last season, the fight to finish where we finished and to manage the best position in five or six years.”
“I’m going to enjoy this season. Again, I know the words you want me to say or not to say. It depends on the music, but words for me don’t come easy.”
“I think by the end of November or December, you don’t need words – you will see by then which teams are candidates to win the Premier League. In this moment, words are not important.”
“Let’s play football and by the end of November or December, you don’t need words. You will see which teams are candidates.”

Ferdinand: “He’s (Mourinho) got to get Paul Pogba to play for United the way he did for France at the World Cup. Some of that is down to Pogba himself, but Mourinho must give him the confidence to express himself and give him a platform to dominate.” #mufc #manchesterunited #manutd #pogba #mourinho
Asked about Paul Pogba transfer saga – who is said to be linked with Barcelona move – Mourinho replied: “My perception of the situation? I see Paul very well. He arrived Monday, happy, proud, with a desire to work.”
“He worked amazingly well Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and he’s one of the players that I have to speak to see how physically and mentally he feels.”
“But it’s the same conversation as with (Ashley) Young, (Marouane) Fellaini, (Jesse) Lingard, it’s the same. To know how they feel physically, mentally to try to give us a help.”
