Former Liverpool and England midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea will have been disappointed to see Thibaut Courtois playing at Real Madrid after signing from Chelsea in the summer.
The Spaniard has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid move, but Los Blancos have given up and decided to move for the Belgian shot-stopper.
Courtois moved to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer After a strong performance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The FIFA World Cup Golden Glove winner, who expressed his interest to move on, has signed a six-year contract.
Meanwhile, De Gea, who is currently said to be unhappy at Old Trafford, is reportedly linked with Juventus move.
And former Premier League star Redknapp believes the Spain international will have been disappointed by Thibaut Courtois’ move to the European champions.
Redknapp said: “A year left on his contract, obviously he has an option.”
“But he must have been thinking in the summer with Real Madrid maybe being interested in him. And then Courtois went there and he must have thought ‘crikey, that was my opportunity gone’.
“So maybe now you’re looking at Juventus, (Wojciech) Szczesny’s their No 1, that may be something he may be looking at, PSG as well.”
De Gea, 27, who joined United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid, has since made 328 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
The 27-year-old, whose current contract is due to expire at the end of this season, is yet to decide his Old Trafford future.
