Brazil and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has completed his Manchester United move from Shakhtar Donetsk.
On 5 June 2018, the Red Devils have reached an agreement to sign Fred. But now the midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the option to extend for a further year.
Therefore, United have confirmed that the 25-year-old is now Red after successfully completing a medical.
“This is the biggest club in the world and I am delighted to be a part of this amazing team. To work with Jose Mourinho, who has won so many trophies in his time as a coach, is an opportunity not to be missed,” he told the club’s website.
“I cannot wait to get started and to meet my new teammates. I would like to thank everyone at Shakhtar Donetsk for everything they have done for me over the past five years.”
“When I was young, it was a name I used to hear and it was a name I used to see on computer games and I used to play with the team. For me, Manchester United means greatness.”
“This is a very exciting time for me with my focus now fully on the World Cup with Brazil.”
“It’s going to be a big challenge, that’s for sure,” Fred added. “But as I have already said, I am someone who is always looking to improve.”
“I’m looking to show the best of my abilities every day and to work to improve, and that means working to play well and put in good performances in the Premier League and with Manchester United to achieve great things and win titles.”
“At Manchester United, I’m looking to win titles, alongside my new team-mates and my new manager, win matches with the club and make history by achieving great things together.”
Fred, who was brought in from Ukrainian side for a £50m deal, is currently in Russia with the Brazil national team.
Fred, who becomes the second signing for United, has scored four goals and seven assists in 37 appearances for Donetsk last season.
