Russia World Cup 2018 is set to kickoff on 14th of June 2018. The host nation will welcome the World with a clash against the Middle East nation Saudi Arabia at the Iconic 81,000 capacity Luzhniki Stadium in the Capital Moscow. It is a dream for many footballers to represent their nation in the showdown. However, injuries and poor form can make Coaches change their mind during selection. It is for this reason we want to take a look at six stars likely to miss the showpiece unless miracles happen in their recovery in the next few weeks.

6. Gylfi Sigurdsson- Iceland/Everton

Iceland shocked many people in EURO 2016 when they knocked out England to reach the quarter-finals. The tiny European nation went on to top their group to qualify for Russia World Cup 2018. They will want to have all their best players next summer but Gylfi Sigurdsson might not be among them. The 28-year-old Everton playmaker suffered a bad knee injury that could jeopardize his chances of playing in June.

Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can is out for the rest of the season with a back injury. The German international suffered the injury playing for his country in the recent International break. Joachim Loew might need to reconsider his selection if he fails to recover in time. He is also set to be a free agent next summer because he has refused to extend his contract to stay at Anfield.
