Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has claimed that Real Madrid players have to give the Catalan side a guard of honour at Camp Nou this weekend.
The Los Blancos will travel to Barcelona on Sunday evening for their second El Clasico of the season.
In football, it is fair and traditional for opposition teams to applaud the new champions before the kick-off when the team has already been crowned the title.
However, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has recently claimed that his side will not give their bitter rivals a guard of honour.
“In our case, Barca would do the guard of honour,” Alba told reporters.
“The Club World Cup was a competition we didn’t play in. At the Bernabeu, in the league, we have previously performed a guard of honour. If they don’t want to give us a guard of honour it will be because it comes from upstairs.”
The Blaugrana have already won the Copa del Rey this season, as they have to win only one game and one draw to clinch the league title.
Barcelona, who last 34 games without any single defeat in La Liga this season, have beaten Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 at Abanca-Riazor Stadium on Saturday evening.
