Arsene Wenger has revealed that he believes Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi will not leave the Gunners over this summer transfer window.

Mustafi has been under pressure this season after being criticised by Arsenal fans over his poor performance.

Consequently, the Germany international was since rumoured to leave the North-London side; but the January transfer window still left him at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger, who announced his resignation last week, has predicted Mustafi to remain at the club.

Meanwhile, there what Arsene Wenger thinks about Mustafi’s future at the Emirates Stadium:

“He wasn’t close [to leaving],” Sky Sports News quotes Wenger as saying.

“He is a young defender who has had ups and downs. I believe overall he has potential. He is one of the guys who is committed and goes for the challenges.”

The 26-year-old, who started his senior career at Everton, has joined the Gunners from Spanish side Valencia in 2016.
