Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Mathieu Debuchy has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

In Friday’s press conference, Wenger told reporters: “It’s a severe hamstring injury, yes. Six weeks, I think. It’s frustrating for me but even more for him, he’s a guy who fights hard, he has an exceptional attitude. He’s absolutely disappointed, but he’s a fighter, he will fight to come back.”

  • The Frenchman, 31, suffered the blow just 16 minutes into the Gunners’ 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Emirates last Sunday.
  • The news comes one day after Santi Cazorla was ruled out for three months following surgery on an Achilles problem.

Arsenal Tell Chile They Want Alexis Sanchez To Return To London After Injury Scare

Arsenal want their forward Alexis Sanchez to return to London after the forward’s worrying calf injury scare on Tuesday while training with Chile.

Chile want to keep hold of the forward in hope he may be available to play against Uruguay next week, but will miss Friday’s clash against Colombia.

Sanchez’s injury is being assessed by medical staff with his national team but the Gunners are keen to make their own judgement.

Chile officials insist the injury is not serious but Arsenal are understandably reluctant to take any risks with their star attacker.

“It is hurting a bit but I’m fine. I’ll be back for Tuesday,” Sanchez told Chilean publication El Mercurio.

During his press conference ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday, 10 November, Chile head coach Antonio Pizzi confirmed that the Gunners star will only miss one game and could be back to face Uruguay.

“We expected to count on Alexis Sanchez, but he suffered a small injury yesterday and cannot be considered for tomorrow,” the Chile manager said, as was quoted by the Express.

According to the Mirror, the north London club have been in touch with their Chilean counterparts, but with the manager suggesting that he will return for the clash against Uruguay, it is unlikely they will allow him to leave early and return to the club.

Arsenal would prefer Sanchez not to play against Uruguay next week and return back to London for treatment, as Arsene Wenger would like to have Sanchez available for the clash against Manchester United on Saturday week.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has apologised to Manchester United supporters after picking up a suspension ruling him out of the clash against Arsenal on November 19.

The Swedish striker collected his fifth booking of the season so far in Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League win at Swansea City after a clash with Leroy Fer.

Ibrahimovic will now be unavailable for next game’s selection, meaning he will have to watch from the stands at Old Trafford  for the visit of Arsenal after the international break.

“In England, the football is hard, it’s physical,” the 35-year-old told MUTV.

“I just have to accept it. I’ve got to be professional. I’m sorry I am suspended for the next game.

“I wish I wasn’t as it’s a game I really wanted to play in. But I have trust in my team-mates and the team and I know they can do fine also without me.”

The former PSG star, who ended a six-game goal drought by scoring twice at the Liberty Stadium, will miss the forthcoming match against Arsenal following his fifth booking of the season.
