Arsenal have announced the first summer signing for new manager Unai Emery who joined the club on 23 May as Arsene Wenger replacement.
The Gunners have officially confirmed that Stephan Lichtsteiner has agreed to join the club from Juventus and will officially join on July 1.
The Switzerland international defender joins the North London side on a free transfer after ending his seven-year spell at Juventus.
Emery told the club’s official website: “Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad. He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude. Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.”
Lichtsteiner has made 257 appearances and scored 15 goals for the Italian champions in all competitions since joining the club in 2011 from Lazio.
Spanish manager Emery, who recently agreed a two-year deal with Arsenal, is believed to be on the verge of completing another signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
