Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has claimed that Neymar is not set to make Camp Nou return, insisting that the Paris Saint-Germain forward could join Real Madrid instead.
The Brazil international left the La Liga champions in the summer of 2017 for the French side in a world-record £200m.
However, the 26-year-old has since been linked with La Liga return with Real Madrid said to be favourite suitors.
And according to recent reports, Neymar is looking to make a shock return to Barcelona in the near future.
“It wouldn’t hurt me because they are decisions that if they happen, happen. Madrid would reinforce themselves with a unique player,” Iniesta told Cadena Ser.
Asked about Neymar returning to Barcelona, Iniesta added: “I think it’s difficult. Obviously, Neymar continues to be one of the best and in any team, he would make a difference. But it’s not easy to return.”
Meanwhile, Neymar continues to impress in Ligue 1 with 10 goals in 11 league games so far this season.
And according to former Barcelona and Real Madrid star, Luis Figo, Neymar could become the best player in the world.
“Under normal circumstances, I’d say he could become the best in the world because he is an awesome player,” Figo told Goal.com.
“But that also depends on the trophies that he can win with his club, such as the Champions League.”
“If we are only talking about his individual quality, he is a wonderful player but I don’t know if he will stay at PSG or not.”
“If a player doesn’t want to stay at a team, I don’t think that any club can keep them against their will but I don’t know what will happen.”
