The NBA playoff first round was surprising, breath-taking, and ambitious. Strong teams like Oklahoma City Thunder were unexpectedly eliminated. Miami Heat’s season was ended by the Sixers. Indiana Pacers also had to take the Cavs to game 7 before being eliminated. Now here comes the second round matchups from both conferences. Who will make it now?

Eastern Conference semi-finals

In this conference, all teams went at least to game 6, except for the Philadelphia 76ers who played only 5 games to end Miami. Here are the Eastern Conference semi-finals matchups:

Toronto Raptors v Cleveland Cavaliers

Compared to the Cavs, Toronto Raptors did not suffer a lot to get to the playoffs round two. After finishing first in the regular season, the Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 4-2 in round one. The Cavs, on the other hand, suffered a lot as Indiana Pacers almost kicked them out if it wasn’t for Lebron’s individual performances.

Boston Celtics v Philadelphia 76ers

Boston Celtics never had it easy against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee Bucks. This fought until game 7 to find out who makes it to the next round. Whereas, for the Sixers, things seemed a bit tough against Miami before Joel Embiid returned from injury and sink them into the sea. Now the question is, are the Celtics without Kyrie Irving going to stop them?

Western Conference semi-finals

In this conference, all eyes are on only two monsters! James Harden’s record-breaking Houston Rockets and the reigning champions Golden State Warriors. And both unsurprisingly made it next round, and even winning their first games. Here are the Western Conference semi-finals matchups:

Houston Rockets v Utah Jazz (Rockets lead the series 1-0)

The Rockets beat Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round with 4-1 and this ain’t no surprise. What about the Utah Jazz who surprisingly beat Westbrook, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, and Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2? Their series started on Sunday night and the Rockets took the lead. James Harden scored 41 points, with Houston Rockets racing out to a 110-96 win over the Utah Jazz in Game 1.

Golden State Warriors v New Orleans Pelicans (Warriors lead the series 1-0)

The Pelicans is the only franchise who advanced to the semi-finals without losing a game. They swept the series, beating Portland Trail Blazers 4-0. Golden State beat San Antonio Spurs 4-1 without Stephen Curry onboard. As the semi-finals started on Saturday, the Warriors pulled out an impressive 123-101 win to take the lead. Anthony Davis will have to respond quickly, otherwise, they will be gone soon as Curry is said to be back in this round.
