Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has apparently warned Unai Emery to make a major decision over striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The 29-year-old has scored twice in Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Ukrainian side FC Vorskla Poltava in their Europa League opening game on Thursday night at the Emirates Stadium.
Since the beginning of the 2018-19, the Gabon international has been used by the manager as a left winger.
The Spanish manager has now preferred to start the former Borussia Dortmund star on the central forward while Alexandre Lacazette was an unused substitute.
Therefore, Arsenal legend Keown has told the Gunners boss that he has new Thierry Henry in his squad.
“I really liked that from Aubameyang,” Keown said on BT Sport.
“The way he drifted in and curls the ball with his right foot, it reminded me of Henry and that’s a massive compliment.”
“There’s a kind of swagger about him and maybe now he will start to believe in himself.”
“I think it’s important for Arsenal to have a player like him, who has that blistering pace and movement. He is following greats like Henry and ([Ian] Wright.”
“He’s been a bit of a slow burner but he is getting his confidence again and there’s a certain kind of arrogance about him now and I believe he has got the talent. He was the good news for Arsenal tonight.”
Aubameyang joined the North London side in January from Dortmund and has now managed to score 13 goals in 20 appearances.
