Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed that his side are looking to sign two players before the January transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Spanish manager has previously claimed that the Gunners are only able to make loan deals in January for players who can improve his squad.

According to recent reports, Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request amid Arsenal interest.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have also been linked with Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez who is said to be keen on Camp Nou exit.

Emery said: “This transfer [window] is not easy and the message is the club is working on different players and the possibility if it can be is good for us.”

“We are looking at two different players and the possibility they can come. If they aren’t coming to help us like we want, I prefer they don’t come.”

Emery is unwilling to sign a new defender this month, despite having injuries likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos (ankle) and Laurent Koscielny (jaw).

speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League match against Cardiff, Emery said: “We have enough players, centre-backs in the squad. Only we’re having a lot of injuries and a lot in this position.”

“If we can bring another player and when all the players want to play, we can have a lot of trouble in the future.”

“We are in one moment, but I know because the club is telling me that this moment is not good to buy players.”

“Because it is not a good moment. But the club say to me in the summer it is going to be different. And we are going to have chances to spend money to buy players.”

Emery has revealed that Sokratis will be out for two or three weeks with ankle injury, while Koscielny is expected to be back for weekend’s trip to Manchester City with a bruised jaw.
