The PFA Player of the Year has been announced, and it is Mohamed Salah claiming the prize after an explosive first season at Liverpool. He narrowly edged Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne for the award, so fans used Twitter to express their thoughts.
Salah Claims The PFA player of the year award

Few could have foreseen the Egyptian magician’s impact after he swapped Roma for Anfield last summer in a £34.3million deal. It has certainly proven money well spent and Salah’s exceptional performances have brought recognition from his peers in his first season back in English football.

The 25-year-old was named Player of the Year at the 45th PFA Awards at Grosvenor House in central London on Sunday evening, having seen off tough competition from Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

The pair has been the standout players of a memorable campaign, but it is Salah that has come out on top after one of the greatest debut campaigns in Liverpool’s history.
“It’s a big honor. I’ve worked hard and I’m very happy to win it,” Salah said at the ceremony on Sunday evening.

However, some fans still state “If the best player in the best team isn’t deserving of the award, who is?”, referring to Kevin De Bruyne.

If you think De Bruyne deserves PFA POTY over Salah, you’re either a City fan or a retard, which is basically the same thing
— Öliver (@Oliver15i) April 22, 2018
'Mo Salah doesn't deserve POTY award'
'Because De Bruyne won the league'
THE AWARD IS CALLED PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOT TROPHY WINNER OF THE YEAR YOU FUCKING MELT!
— Raz✌ (@EgyptianBa11er) April 22, 2018
Mo Salah is a fair enough choice for POTY, but if I had to choose one player to have in my team every week this season, it would be Kevin De Bruyne.
— Jonathan Smith (@jonnysmiffy) April 22, 2018
De Bruyne has scored 1 league goal in the last 4 months. One. That's some drop off. He's been fantastic, but I don't think this POTS debate is anywhere near as "close" as many say it is.

In the midst of all the Kevin De Bruyne talk here’s a masterful goal from Salah to ease the minds of all you Liverpool fans pic.twitter.com/j7n02wAhIl

Salah won it

Pep: “If Kevin De Bruyne doesn’t win (POTY) then congratulations to who does.
In my opinion there was no player better than him in terms of continuity every three days in all competitions. There are guys better than him numbers wise. But this season he has been the best.” pic.twitter.com/rtIhzaK7lV

De Bruyne not winning the PFA Player of the Year pic.twitter.com/q6zAs1cK4S

Mohamed Salah might win PFA Player of the Year, but no doubt in my mind that Kevin de Bruyne is the best all-round player in the Premier League. It's not even that close (for me).
