Weekends are time to relax, and the best time for jokes, gags, pranks, stunts and wind-ups (at least if you don’t work at the weekends). And though we are in the international break, you can still relax with these funny footballers. Down are five of the funniest ever pranks pulled by footballers.
5. Stoke Players Trying To Turn Michael Owen’s Car Into a Cake

A prank from those relentless bantermeisters over at the Britannia Stadium and it’s mischievous leprechaun Glenn Whelan behind the wheel.
Teaming up with his midfield chum Dean Whitehead, they decided to send off the retiring ex-England striker Michael Owen with a classic. They threw eggs and flour at his car like a pair of cheeky schoolboys.

Another car prank, another stinky dump. This time though, the dump comes courtesy of a fishmonger, not Robbie Savage. While at Manchester City, Italian firebrand Mario Balotelli got done up like a kipper by his teammates. Literally.
They left a seaload of the stinky breakfast fish in his new £150,000 Maserati just as he left for a two-week break and by the time he returned? Well, you can imagine. The fish has started rotting, his ride was covered in flies.
3. Franck Ribery on referee Bibiana Steinhaus

We are in August 2017. Bayern were 3-0 up away to third-tier side Chemnitzer FC in their DFB Cup first round tie when Corentin Tolisso was fouled just outside the penalty area in the 78th minute. As regular dead-ball expert Robert Lewandowski had been substituted off earlier, Ribery grabbed the ball to take the free-kick.
While Steinhaus was preparing to mark out the distance to the wall, the 34-year-old Frenchman bent down, pretending to put the ball in place for the set-piece. However, instead, he untied the lace of her right boot.
It did not go unnoticed by Steinhaus, who reacted by giving Ribery two playful punches on the arm. “She’s strong, she’s got a lot of power!” said the Bayern no.7 afterwards. “It was funny. She played along and was in good spirits. You can have fun with referees but it’s also important that there’s mutual respect.”
