World football has been hit with another tragedy on Sunday as boat carrying a Ugandan football team and supporters has drowned on Lake Albert (Africa’s seventh largest lake).
The Boat was carrying a total of 45 passengers from Kaweibanda village to Runga for a friendly match.
- Nine people have been killed and 21 others are missing while 15 others were confirmed as survivors of the accident.
- The Board were travelling to Hoima District for a football match as part of the Christmas Day festivities on Sunday.
- Lake Albert, which is one of the world’s largest lakes and also borders neighbouring DR Congo, has a history of boat accidents.
