Barcelona have been the most successful club in the past decade in Europe entirely. The Blaugrana are renowned for their quality of producing young superstars. But their signings are often not the best.
Here are 4 players ever signed by Barcelona but they became flop immediately after joining the Camp Nou side.
4. Alfonso – Striker
Barcelona signed Alfonso in 2000 from Real Betis after a successful spell of 5 seasons at Benito Villamarin Stadium.
The Spaniard is among few players who represented both Real Madrid and Barcelona as he has been at Bernabeu for 9 years.
Alfonso, whose Barca signed for €16.5m, managed to score only 2 times during his 2-year spell at Camp Nou. Although the striker had scored 57 goals in 152 appearances for Real Betis which attracted the Blaugrana before signing him in 2000.
3. Alexander Hleb – Attacking midfielder
Arsenal have sold quite a few players to Barcelona over the years, and most of them have been flop apart from Thierry Henry.
Alexander Hleb had a successful spell at Arsenal between 2005 and 2008 before he moved to Barcelona.
Following the successful stay at the Emirates Stadium under manager Arsene Wenger, the Belarusian midfielder moved to Catalan side in a €17m deal.
Hleb was one of the most creative players in the Premier League during his time with the Gunners. Playing out wide on the right, he is a good dribbler and can pick beautiful forward passes.
However, after making 38 appearances for the Catalans in his debut season, the midfielder was loaned out to VfB Stuttgart.
After three spells on loan at three different clubs, the Belarus international was sold to Russian side Krylia Sovetov Samara.
