The year 2016 is slowly coming to an end. We enjoyed Uefa Euro 2016 and Copa America in the summer, Real Madrid lifted Uefa Champions League crown for the 11th time and Sevilla thrashed Liverpool to lift Europa League. More trophies were won all over the World including South America and Africa.

Now, it is time for reflection, we decided therefore to look at the goal charts to see who scored the highest number of goals in the year 2016 as we prepare to usher in 2017.

They include;

10. Sergio Aguero- 27 goals

Nobody would expect this list to be complete without the name of the Premier League goal machine Sergio Aguero. Manchester City fans must be thanking God that the petro-dollar cash has helped keep him at Etihad Stadium because it would have been impossible to retain him.

The Argentine striker has scored 27 times in only 30 matches in 2016. Pep Guardiola has tried and failed to neutralize his dominance at Etihad so far this season. He makes you wonder why Argentina has not any major international tournament for so long. Messi, Di Maria, Lavezzi and Higuain are also in the team.

9. Gonzalo Higuain- 29 goals

Juventus paid a record amount of money to sign Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli and after 21 appearances, he has already scored 12 goals. He scored 17 goals between January and May during his time at Napoli. He is a goal poacher and he will score many more goals for the Old Lady.

8. Róbinson Aponzá-30 goals

Club Allianza Atletico Sullana has a special talent in their hands in the name of Róbinson Aponzá. He is a left winger but he is banging them in like you can’t believe. He has so far scored 30 goals in 38 appearances in 2016 alone.
