Premier League will be back on our screens starting 11th of August. FA Cup champions Chelsea will take on League holders Manchester City on 5th August to decide who will take home FA Community Shield. It will then usher in the new season a week later. Today, we want to focus on academy success in British football. We take a look at five clubs with best academies based on minutes their graduates played in Premier League last season.

5. Sheffield United- 6 Players, 16,554 Minutes

Sheffield United did not even participate in Premier League last season but 6 of their graduates did a great job. The club did not get a promotion either which means they must try once again this season. The club can be proud of Champions Kyle Walker who came through the ranks at their academy before joining Tottenham then Manchester City. Others include England World Cup hero Harry Maguire, Everton Captain Phil Jagielka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Kyle Naughton, and Matt Lowton. In total, all six played for 16,554 minutes in the Premier League.

4. Arsenal- 14 Players, 17,815 Minutes

One of the main reasons why Arsene Wenger remains a respected figure in European football is, of course, his brand of football. The Gunners will also remember the Frenchman for giving many young players a chance to shine in the first team. A total of 14 graduates from their academy played 17,815 minutes in Premier League last season. They include; Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Iwobi, and Hector Bellerin among others.

3. Chelsea- 13 Players, 20,453 Minutes

Chelsea is one of those clubs that are very good at identifying top talents. The Blues Youth teams continue to dominate the ranks with silverware almost every year. However, the biggest problem is giving these talented players a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge. A big number of them end up in multiple loan deals for years before they decide to leave the club. A good example is Reuben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham among others. The club academy can be proud of 13 graduates who managed to get 20,453 minutes in Premier League last season.
