The wait is finally over because six players have been shortlisted for 2017/18 Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year award. The fans and pundits continue to call out names but we have six stars with an equal chance of winning the coveted gong. Today, we want to highlight the six players and few reasons why we believe they have been nominated for PFA 2017/18 Player of the Year award. PFA members will vote and the winner will be announced on 22nd April at London’s Grosvenor House.
6. David Silva- Manchester City
The team that wins the League always dominates the awards table and the story is the same this year. David Silva is the third Manchester City player on the list. The 32-year-old might be playing his final years on top of the game but he has been immense for Pep Guardiola this season once again. The Spaniard has netted 9 goals and assisted 14 more in all competitions. He has also won the award for best pass completion in the Premier League with 89 percent. He has been the leader on the pitch many times when Vincent Kompany is absent.
5. Leroy Sane- Manchester City
Leroy Sane has enjoyed a great season under Pep Guardiola in his second season at the helm. One of the reasons why Manchester City has been so good this season is because of the lightning pace they possess in the wide positions. The young German is full of speed and tricks that send shockwaves down the spines of defenders. This season he might not win this award but in future, he will challenge it. In all competitions, he has netted 13 goals and assisted 16 more in 44 appearances in all competitions. He is second on the assist with 12.
4. Harry Kane- Tottenham Hotspurs
Tottenham Hotspurs striker Harry Kane has been trolled and criticized by fans and pundits in the last few days for claiming Christian Eriksen goal against Stoke City. The forward is determined to catch Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot but he certainly rubbed few people the wrong way when he appealed to FA to get that goal successfully.
However, he still has enjoyed a great season once again. In all competitions, England forward has netted 36 goals and assisted 4 others in only 41 appearances. It is a great return for a player who has also been out injured for a few weeks. He was also shortlisted for PFA Young player of the year award.
