FIFA World Cup 2018 final is set to be played on Sunday 15th July between France and Croatia. The two European side defeated Belgium and England respectively to reach the summit. Le Bleus played a tactical match against a very talented Red Devils side. They won the match 1-0 thanks to a headed goal by Samuel Umtiti. Luka Modric side ended Three Lions hopes of playing in their second final since 1966 with a 2-1 win on Wednesday night. Today, as we start the countdown to the final, we want to take a look at four legendary footballers who reached the final as player and Coach in history.
4. Didier Deschamps- France
For those who might not be aware, France boss Didier Deschamps has now become only the fourth man to reach World Cup final as both player and Coach. In 1998, he was the Captain when Le Bleus defeated Brazil to lift the trophy on home soil.On Tuesday, his side thrashed much-fancied Belgium side 1-0 to reach the Sunday final. If he beats Croatia, he will become only the third man to win the trophy both as player and Coach. Deschamps also won EURO 2000 as well as UEFA Champions League with Marseille and Juventus.
3. Rudi Voller- Germany
Germany has dominated international football for many years. It is the reason why it was a massive surprise to see them knocked out in the 2018 World Cup in Russia in the group stage. Rudi Voller is one of those legends who will not be impressed by the performance of the team this year. The former striker reached two World Cup finals as a player in 1986 (runners-up) and 1990 winner. He went on to become a successful Coach after retirement. In 2002, he was given a chance to match Franz Beckenbauer record of winning the trophy as both player and Coach. However, in the final, Ronaldo de Lima netted twice past the unbeatable Oliver Khan to take the trophy to South America.
