Belgium came from 2-0 down to beat Japan 3-2 in their last 16 clash on Monday night. The win means they will play five-time winners Brazil in the quarterfinals on Friday. The story could’ve have been very different because the Asian side was threatening to spoil the party when they took a 2-0 lead in the second half. However, the Red Devils had the quality to turn the game around and they did exactly that.
The comeback was started by central defender Jan Vertonghen. The Tottenham Hotspurs man was trying to head the ball back to the six-yard area when his header looped over the goalkeeper and landed perfectly inside the net in the far post. The European side was back in the game a few minutes later thanks to another header by substitute Marouane Fellaini. The job was done in the last minute of injury time when they orchestrated an electric counterattack that was finished by Nacer Chadli.
