It is a pity I missed yesterday's match with my back injury. It'll need some time but I'm sure I'll fully recover in time for the World Cup. Once again I'd like to thank our boss for everything. It was an honour playing for you, Monsieur Wenger! Thanks for all your advice and memories we shared together. 🙏🏼 @Arsenal #merciarsène
SokkaaStars will not be able to select Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil this weekend. This is because the German midfielder has been sidelined for the rest of the season with a back injury.
“[It is] a recurrence of his back problem,” Wenger said on Sunday.
“How long is he out? I don’t know.
“I don’t think he’ll be available for the rest of the season.”
7. Jerome Boateng- Thigh injury
Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng chances of playing for Germany in Russia 2018 World Cup are in serious danger. The center-back sustained a serious thigh injury a fortnight ago in a Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid. However, his coach Jupp Heynckes believes all will be fine for the big central defender by the time World Cup starts. He is likely to miss all remaining Bundesliga matches.
‘I see absolutely no danger for the World Cup. Jerome will of course — as I and our doctor, Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt, understand it — be at the World Cup, and will be able to train before it too’. Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes.
6. Joel Matip- Thigh Injury
SokkaaStarsmanagers will not be able to select Joel Matip in defender 2 category. The Liverpool defender suffered a thigh injury in April. Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he underwent a surgery and will therefore not be available again this season.
“That was then quite harsh. But it is like it is. Joel has already started recovery and will be back for pre-season. That’s good. It doesn’t help us too much in the moment, of course: not too cool.” Klopp said.
5. Romelu Lukaku- Foot Injury
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will not be available for selection against Brighton on Friday night. The Belgian forward suffered a foot injury in a 2-1 win against Arsenal at Old Trafford last weekend. Jose Mourinho has now confirmed the forward will not be available for the final game of the season at Old Trafford against Watford.
“I don’t know how long he will be out,” said Mourinho.
“I just know that he will not play on Sunday. Apart from that, we need to wait for more scans, more time.”
For those of you who like selecting the Belgian on SokkaaStars, now you know he will not be available to win you points this weekend.
