Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has claimed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could sign Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele.
The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with away move from the Camp Nou with the Premier League identified as his preferred destination.
The France international, who won the World Cup in Russia this summer, is said to have been in Arsenal radar this summer.
However, Maguire has revealed that United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward could bring in Barcelona star to please manager Jose Mourinho.

@Arsenal have been linked with Ousmane #Dembelé throughout the summer, but the rumour is becoming even more intense now as Dembelé has reportedly become extremely frustrated with his current club #Barcelona. • There are rumours that Aaron Ramsey could be used in a swap deal and that #Barça would refuse to negotiate a deal without the Welshman involved. • Personally, I feel as if this deal is extremely likely as I don’t think Barcelona will want to sell Dembelé due to his supreme potential. Likewise, I don’t think the #Gunners will want to sell one of their best central players in Ramsey. • I’d write this one off, but it’s still an interesting rumour nonetheless! • Follow @footypundit for more transfer rumours throughout the summer 👀⚽️ ___________________________________________________ #dembele #ousmane #ousmanedembele #france #lesblues #arsenal #arsenalfc #afc #gooners #coyg #northlondon #northlondonderby #londonclub #premierleague #epl #pl #fpl #transfers #transfernews #transferrumour
The former Chelsea boss has frequently reiterated that he wants two more signings before the start of the season.
Maguire told the Daily Star: “The two Manchester clubs who will be interested in him too.”
“Mourinho is very unhappy in terms of United’s recruitment so far.”
“I think most United fans saw the signing of Fred as solid, but very much treading water.”
“If they want something to wet the appetite, then someone like Dembele could do that – and they can certainly afford him.”
Dembele joined the Catalan side in August last summer from Borussia Dortmund for €105m plus a reported €40m add-on. But the former Rennes ace has since struggled with injuries during his time at Barcelona.
