When footballers turn 30, they start to think about their retirement as many of them do retire between 30 and 35. But a small number of players can continue to play well when they are over 35.
For instance, Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now 36-year-old but is still playing and recently said that it is still early to think about retirement.
Today, we take a look at 7 footballers who are still playing good football and they are over 35.
7. David Villa – Striker [36-year-old]
Villa is currently shining in MLS where he is playing for New York City FC. The Spain international striker moved to The Pigeons in 2015 from Atletico Madrid when he was at the age of 33.
The Spaniard is now 36-year-old but still playing good football. The former Barcelona star has managed to score 66 goals in 101 appearances for the American side.
6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Striker [37-year-old]
Ibrahimovic is renowned for his good quality of being good in the air, quick, tall, strong and agile. The former PSG star, played for 8 clubs during his career, still maintains he’s ageing like a fine wine.
The Swedish striker carried the Red Devils attack on his shoulders last season, scoring 28 goals in 46 appearances.
The striker, who fired Jose Mourinho side to League Cup and Europa League glory before getting injured, is playing as well as ever.
The 36-year-old, who is now shining in the Major League Soccer, has managed 22 goals and six assists in 26 appearances for LA Galaxy since he joined the side in March.
5. Andrea Barzagli – Defender [37-year-old]
Italian centre-back has been one of the key men in the backline of Juventus for a decade. At the age of 37, Barzagli is doing an incredible job for the Old Lady.
4. Aritz Aduriz – Striker [37-year-old]
Spanish international striker is still playing at his best form, having scored 20 times for Athletic Bilbao last season; although the Spaniard is yet to score this season.
He is still playing for his national team as he earned 13 caps scoring 2 times for Spain.
