FIFA World Cup 2018 comes to an end today, Sunday 15th July 2018. France will face Croatia in the final. Belgium thrashed England 2-0 to finish third. Russia tournament has delivered more drama than in 2014 and 2010 combined. The focus today is on stars who for one reason or another we feel did not deserve to be knocked out so early.
7. Toni Kroos- Germany
Toni Kroos made the mistake when Sweden scored an early goal against Germany in their second Group game. However, the midfielder made amends with a great goal in injury time to give his side all three points. In their final game against South Korea, he made another mistake that led to a goal again. It was the strike that made it almost impossible for his nation to go through. A second goal was scored by the Asians but the first goal had already done the damage.
6. Sadio Mane- Senegal

Senegal needed only a draw in their final match against Colombia to progress to the last 16 but they could not get a point in that game. In the end, they finished with similar points to Japan but they were still knocked out on disciplinary record. They had taken six yellow cards as compared to 4 taken by the Asian giants. All said Sadio Mane did not do enough to rescue his team in Russia. The Liverpool star works very hard for results at Anfield, but the same energy was not seen in Russia. He scored only one goal but that was not enough for a player of his caliber.
5. Son Heung-min- South Korea
South Korea thought they had booked a place in the last 16 only to be shocked to learn that Sweden had beaten Mexico 3-0 in the other game. Son Heung-min second goal against Germany could’ve booked a place for them in the next round but that depended on the Central Americans beating the Scandinavians. The opposite happened and it was hard to take for Son and his teammates.
4. Robert Lewandowski- Poland
Russia World Cup has denied superstars a chance to take all credit for their national teams. The showdown has shown so far that only teams will go far in this tournament. This is what happened to Poland hopes of reaching the last 16. The country main man Robert Lewandowski could not find the net in all three group games and that meant trouble for them. They lost to Senegal and Colombia and even though they managed to beat Japan 1-0, their campaign was dead.
