Lately tipped to be a flop, Lukaku featured on a list the 2017 Ballon d’Or winner couldn’t. Alongside Pogba, they meanwhile, are considered to be worth a combined €122 million more than the Reds Devils spent to sign them.

7. Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) – €167.8M

3. Harry Kane (Tottenham) – €194.7M

Tottenham poacher Harry Kane is worth nearly €200 million in the modern-day market. That is enough to put him third on CIES’ list of the most valuable players in world football.

2. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – €202.2M

In the full list, Barcelona contributed both the most valuable goalkeeper on the list (Marc-André ter Stegen at €96m) and the most valuable defender (Samuel Umtiti at €101m); with Messi leading the way for La Liga players.

1. Neymar Jr. (PSG) – €213M

Neymar is evidently Ligue 1’s most valuable player; he is valued more than double as much as Cristiano Ronaldo. He may be estimated at a lower value than the €222 million Paris Saint-Germain paid last summer. But he still tops the list.
