Former Barcelona and Brazil playmaker Ronaldinho has revealed that midfielder Paul Pogba has the ability to win the Ballon d’Or at Manchester United.
The £89m midfielder has failed to make his mark under Jose Mourinho since re-joining to Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer of 2016.
The 25-year-old has been criticised by manager Mourinho in recent months for his poor form, although he scored 5 times and set up 10 goals in 23 Premier League goals.
The Portuguese boss has dropped the France international from the starting line-up for several times in last 15 outings. But Brazil legend Ronaldinho believes that the former Juventus star can still win big awards under former Chelsea manager.
What does Ronaldinho think about Paul Pogba, who is currently out of favour under manager Jose Mourinho?
Ronaldinho told Canal: “He can win the Ballon d’Or, without a doubt. I see Pogba as a friend. I don’t see myself as his idol. He is young, talented and he has the ability to play anywhere, he can play in a free role, defensive, as a runner or attacking, he has the characteristics of a player who can fill any position, he can make history.”
“He knows the substitutes’ bench, like me at Paris Saint-Germain with [Luis] Fernandez. It is not the same, when Mourinho tells you that you’re on the bench you have to respect that, the other guy, a little less.”
“I think Paul really has a lot to learn from Mourinho, who is one of the best coaches in the world. A coach who has won so many titles should be respected. In my case, it was the opposite.”
