Drogba signed for Chelsea in July 2004 for £24 million, which is valued at £115.7m today. Since then, in all Chelsea’s very important matches he has put a stamp on it. In November 2012 Drogba was named Chelsea’s greatest ever player in a poll of 20,000 fans conducted by Chelsea Magazine.

After the 2000–01 season, he moved from Lazio to Manchester United on 12 July for a fee of £24.3 million, which would be worth £115.9m now. He was the most expensive transfer in English football at that time, and the first Non-UEFA player to break the English transfer record.
