Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has warned Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to make sure that he is ready to die for Old Trafford move this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic has heavily been linked with a move to United since January this year as the 23-year-old had a very successful campaign at Lazio last season.

The former Genk star has now impressed for Serbia in their 1-0 victory over Costa Rica during their first game of the 2018 World Cup on Sunday afternoon at Samara Arena.

Real Madrid and Juventus have also been said to be in the race the Serbia international but Evra urges him to work hard to show how he deserves to play at Old Trafford.

“I’m really careful when I talk about Manchester United because to play for this club, it’s not about your ability. You need to be a character, a personality,” Evra told ITV.

“To play for this club, you need to die for this club. The expectations are really huge and I’m afraid now. If you said to me ‘Patrice, you will play for Man Utd, but you won’t even get paid’, I would play for this club.”

“So, if he has that mentality – I don’t ask him to say he doesn’t want any money – but if he goes there and makes sure he will die for the club, I will be really happy.”

Milinkovic-Savic, who joined Lazio in 2015 from Belgium side Genk, has since managed 25 goals in 122 appearances for the Biancocelesti.
