Real Madrid have completed the signing of new winger Brahim Diaz from Manchester City on a six-and-a-half-year deal after an agreement between both sides.

The 19-year-old is believed to have cost the La Liga giants an initial transfer fee of £15.5 million (€17 million).

The Spanish forward, who started his youth career at Malaga, had rejected City’s offers of a new contract and was due to become a free agent in the summer.

The European champions posted a picture of Diaz undergoing his medical to the club’s Twitter feed on Monday morning.

But the forward has already put pen on papers which followed by his presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spaniard explained his first feelings at Bernabeu: “It’s a very special day for me and my family. It is a unique and unforgettable day. I’m very happy and eager to start playing games.”

“I’m available to the coach, I’m keen to get going and hungry to play, but the coach decides. There are great world-class players here, all my new teammates are magnificent and I’m very happy.”

“I didn’t think twice when they told me about the possibility of coming here. The three options I thought were playing at Real Madrid. I want to be successful here, play a big part and contribute to the team.”

Asked what he can say about Manchester City, Diaz said: “I’m very grateful to Manchester City because they valued me. But I’m very happy at the best club in the world and I want to play a big part here. I really want to get started.”

“As a player, you have to define me. It’s a unique and happy moment to fulfil this dream and I want to give my best for the team. I come with the intention of being available to the coach, who is the one who decides. I have to be ready, work hard and with humility.”

“Real Madrid is the best team in the world, it’s a dream for every player to play at Real Madrid and the opportunity only comes once and you have to take it and take advantage of it.”

Diaz joined Manchester City from Malaga in 2013 but he made his first-team debut for the Premier League champions in September 2016.
