A second-half goal from Brighton midfielder Pascal Groß helped the Seagulls to beat Mourinho ‘ s Man United 1-0 and secured the Premier League survival.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that Martial and Rashford’s displays were not good enough and it is the reason why they lost.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata started in a new look front three and the Portuguese tactician indicated that their performance against Brighton is why Lukaku is the first choice striker at the club.

“It was not good enough,” said Mourinho.

“The players who replaced others did not perform at a good level and, when individuals do that, it is difficult for the team to play well.

“Maybe now you will not ask me why A, B and C do not play so much. People always ask: ‘Why always Lukaku?’ Well, now they know why always Lukaku, and why always this player and why always that player. We are probably not as good as people think we are individually.
