Former Tottenham and Manchester United forward Garth Crooks has revealed that Arsenal manager Unai Emery has no intention of selling Mesut Ozil.

The former PSG manager has surprisingly made Ozil captain against Burnley in the weekend and Brooks believes it was so superb.

The German playmaker impressed in the 3-1 win against Burnley on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates.

Therefore, BBC Sport pundit Crooks said: “All these media soothsayers who insist Ozil might be surplus to Unai Emery’s requirements must be mad.”

“Why would Emery allow his only world-class midfield player to leave the club? No, Emery is much smarter than that.”

“The manager may want a little more sweat from the former Germany international but as long as he keeps producing defence-splitting passes amid the rest of their midfield hectic mediocrity, Ozil is a must for Arsenal.”

Crooks has also given his verdict on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performance against Burnley.

He said: “His second goal against Burnley told us all we needed to know about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and why he’s the Premier League’s top goalscorer.”

“Critics might insist Joe Hart might have done better but I doubt whether they have ever played in goal before.”

“Aubameyang absolutely smashed the living daylights out of the ball and left Hart clutching at fresh air.”

“As for Burnley, they might find themselves in the bottom three but they will be all right.”

Arsenal are back in the Premier League action on Wednesday evening as they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion.
