Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has responded to manager Jose Mourinho criticism regarding his failure to re-join the club in the pre-season tour.
The France international left his teammates in the United States after being given permission in order to attend his partner’s giving birth in Paris last week.
United manager Mourinho has subsequently criticised Martial for not returning on time to help the team.
Mourinho told MUTV at the time: “Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born – beautiful baby, full of health, thank God – he should be here and he is not here.”
However, the former Monaco star has taken to social media warning the Portuguese boss that his family will always come first.
“Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she’s better now.”
“Sorry, but my family will always come first. Back tomorrow in Manchester,” the 22-year-old said on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
When asked if Martial will continue his career at United over this summer, Mourinho responded that he doesn’t know if he will return.
