La Liga giants have reached the final after beating Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate; while the Premier League side reached the final with a 7-6 aggregate win over Roma.

The Los Blancos are the favourites to win the title, but Modric believes Liverpool are very difficult opponents.

“They weren’t one of the favourites. But when you look at the matches they’ve played you see that Liverpool deserve to be in the final,” Modric is quoted as saying by Spanish outlet Marca.

“They’re a good team, they have a great coach and a very difficult match awaits us. But we will be prepared.”

Madrid have lifted the trophy two consecutive seasons, while the Reds’ last trophy came in 2005.
