Jose Mourinho has said goodbye to Lowry Hotel workers after getting a sack at Manchester United on Tuesday.

The ‘special one’ shook hands with hotel staff and photographers as he left his home at Lowry hotel where he stayed for the last 895 days, answering “okay my friend” as he was asked how he was when he climbed into the back of his car.

Mourinho failed to maintain control after a chaotic season with disputes with several players and poor results which left them way off the pace in the league table.

Red Devils are sixth in the league table; 19 points behind rivals Liverpool – who beat Mourinho’s men 3-1 on Sunday to deliver the final nail to the coffin.

Club’s staff outlined their next move after dismissing Mourinho; with a short-term appointment in the works until the end of the campain.

“Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect,” a club statement said.

“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future.

“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season; while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.”

Manchester United reportedly paid £537,000 to put Mourinho up in the Lowry during his two-and-a-half years at the club.

After he returned to Chelsea; Mourinho’s family base remained in London.

His Daughter Matilde graduated from the London University of Arts in the summer and his son, Jose Jr, played for Fulham until April last year.
