Every weekend England gets the attention of the entire World not because of their politicians, cuisine, historic museums or even her majesty the Queen but because of English Premier League. It is by far the most entertaining football league right now. Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur to name but a few have become part of our lives. Players from Africa, the Americas, Asia and indeed the rest of Europe work so hard every day to get a chance to shine in the English Premiership. Today we are going to look at five most solid England defenders in Premier League era.
5. Jamie Carragher
He is regarded as one of the best defenders in Liverpool Football Club history. There is no doubt about that whatsoever. Both England and the Reds were certainly fortunate to have Carragher in the team. He was a proud Kop for 17 years raking 737 appearances for the club.
He holds the record for highest European appearances in the club history having played 150 matches for the Mersey side giants. Carragher discipline, dedication and calm defending was his trademark. Young players have a lot to learn from the Kop Legend. His place in history is certainly secure. He is currently a pundit at Sky Sports.
4. Sol Campbell

He is a legend of two teams who are great rivals. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs fans love him and hate him on equal measures but the later certainly loathe him more. He made 315 appearances for Spurs and 195 for the Gunners winning League Cup (Spurs), FA (2) and Premier League (2) for Arsenal. He also won the FA Cup with Portsmouth after parting ways with Arsene Wenger.
He represented England 73 times in a career spanning over 10 years. He was in the team that lost 2-1 to Barcelona in 2006 Champions League final, the closest the Gunners have come in Europe Premier competition. He is certainly up there with the best in the history of football.

He is certainly the best defender in Arsenal history. He is one club man after spending 22 years at the North London club a good reason why the club erected his statue at Emirates Stadium.
He won 4 league titles, 3 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup, and 3 Community Shield Cups. He is celebrated not only as a Premier League legend but also one of the best in the history of the game.
