Manchester United have published a statement on their official website on Tuesday revealing that former Sir Alex Ferguson has been released from intensive care.

The former legendary manager underwent emergency surgery on Saturday after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The 76-year-old and his family have received many condolences and best wish messages, but now Ferguson’s condition is positively improving.

“Sir Alex Ferguson no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient,” Manchester United stated on their website.

“His family have been overwhelmed by the level of support and good wishes but continue to request privacy as this will be vital during this next stage of recovery.”

Ferguson served United since 1986 and stepped down in 2013 after winning 38 trophies with the Red Devils.
