Gonzalo Higuain is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to complete his Chelsea move where he will sign a loan deal from AC Milan.

The Argentina international striker had joined the San Siro side in the summer from Juventus on a season-long loan deal with an option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is looking to reunite with his former Napoli striker as his strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are both struggling to find the back of the net.

Higuain, who didn’t train on Sunday, was left out of AC Milan’s squad for Monday’s game with Genoa.

Meanwhile, Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has slammed the 31-year-old for his decision to leave the Rossoneri in the half of the season.

Gattuso said: “I accept his decision. Surely he could have done more and maybe we could have helped him fit in better.”

“I want to be honest with you all. We had a poor training session today due to all these rumours. We spoke after the training session and I did not consider him ready for this game.”

Maurizio Sarri, who slammed his players for their mental approach against Arsenal, believes Higuain will improve his mood at Stamford Bridge.

Morata, who is currently linked with Atletico Madrid move, has managed just nine goals in all competitions for the Blues so far this season.
