Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola has hinted at the secret behind Maurizio Sarri’s success at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri took over from his fellow countryman Antonio Conte in the summer and has now impressively started his first season in the Premier League.
The Blues are unbeaten side so far this season as they now sit third with 21 points on the Premier League table.
The West London side have also won two from two in the Europa League as they take on Belarusian side BATE Borisov on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.
Zola, who has been an assistant manager at Chelsea since Sarri took over in the summer, has revealed the secret behind Italian’s success.
“It’s a lot, the level of details that he puts,” Zola told Soccer AM. “He really doesn’t leave anything by chance.”
“So when the players go out on the pitch the players know everything about what they have to do and that’s a big help.”
“He’s obsessed with knowing everything about the opposition and then going to the pitch to prepare everything.”
“He knows player by player. All the key players of the opposition, how they defend, how they attack and so, therefore, doing everything to stop them from playing and playing around them, there is a lot of work.”
Zola has been playing at Stamford Bridge as a winger between 1996 and 2003 scoring 80 goals in all competitions.
