Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has criticised the idea of joining Barcelona for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

According to reports, Pogba is expected to leave United in January for Barcelona move following his bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho.

All is not well at Manchester United. With recent results going against them, including a shock Carabao Cup knockout against Derby, poor form in the Barclay's Premier League leaving them in 7th position – 8 points off leaders Liverpool – and personal battles marring the dressing room, many believe we are seeing the beginning of a Jose Mourinho third season meltdown. Mourinho has publicly called out numerous players this season, with the massively underperforming Alexis Sanchez somehow escaping more deserved criticism. But no battle is more interesting and potentially damaging to the club as that of Mourinho and Paul Pogba. Manchester United's record signing and 'prodigal son' hasn't quite lived up to the hype his transfer inspired, but there is no doubt that Mourinho hasn't handled the French Midfielder in the most professional manner. The former Chelsea boss is said to be unhappy with the World Cup winner following a video posted to Pogba’s Instagram story when he was watching his side’s defeat to Derby County in EFL Cup.

The France international, who watched the game from the stands, was caught on camera laughing and joking with team-mates Andreas Pereira and Luke Shaw during the game.

And reports now claim that the 25-year-old is determined to force his transfer from Old Trafford to the Camp Nou.

However, former England defender Carragher admits that Pogba would be a terrible fit at Catalan side.

“There’s talk of him moving on and leaving Manchester United. There’s other clubs in the world that haven’t got Pogba who have been very successful. Barcelona being one,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“But talk of Barcelona I can’t think of more ill-fitting player to Barcelona.”

“Barcelona’s all about discipline, staying in your position, playing for the team. That is totally against everything Pogba plays for.”

Pogba re-joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2016 from Juventus and has since gone on to score 19 times in 95 appearances.
