Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that Arsenal manager Unai Emery is happy for Mesut Ozil to be sold in the January transfer window.
The German playmaker has been dropped by Spanish manager Emery in recent games and is seemingly out of starting lineup under the Spaniard.
The former Real Madrid star only signed a new contract extension earlier this year with huge £300,000-a-week wages.
Meanwhile, former United star Berbatov has opened up on Ozil’s future amid Serie A links.
“Ozil is a great player,” the former Bulgaria hitman said on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday show.
“Sometimes you think is the football they’re playing effecting this great guy, a great player? How do you fix that? He is still a great player.”
“When you don’t fit the system what do you do? You don’t play. How is that good for anyone?”
“I love watching him but football changes. You need to obey what your manager says.”
“If you’re smart you can press and help the team press. It’s not too difficult. So I don’t think it is a big problem for him.”
Ozil moved to the Emirates in 2013 from Real Madrid and has since gone on to score 41 goals in 208 appearances.
