Former Tottenham midfielder Andy Reid has claimed that Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard is better than Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.
Hazard has been unplayable during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Wednesday night in Carabao Cup clash at Anfield.
The Belgium international scored the winner after winning a free-kick that generated their first goal scored by Brazilian-born Italian full-back Emerson Palmieri.
Therefore, former Premier League admits the 27-year-old doesn’t dive like Brazilian star Neymar.
“It’s a skill in itself, getting your body in between the defender and the ball and the timing of it,” Reid told BBC 5 Live Sport.
“They are free-kicks, he doesn’t dive at all. They’re definitely free-kicks.”
“We’ve seen Jordan Henderson complain and it is debatable but it is a free-kick.”
“That’s what he [Hazard] is really good at and he does it week in, week out.”
“He takes a lot but you always see him jump back up to his feet and keep going.”
“He’s almost a complete opposite to Neymar in that respect.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also admitted that it was not easy for his side to defend against Hazard.
“I would say it’s pretty easy to say that here [in the press conference] because it was Eden Hazard and when he is on a run, he is on a run – but of course we could have defended better,” Klopp said.
“I didn’t see it back so far so I will have to see it again.”
“I thought we lost the ball up front, I am not 100 per cent sure, and it was pretty quick.”
“Then, in the box, Eden Hazard at full speed, with his turns, it’s not easy.”
